Hello folks! McNerney Nation is back to cover the 2010 election in California’s 11th Congressonal District.

This election pits incumbent Democrat Jerry McNerney against Republican candidate David Harmer. Jerry McNerney has proven to be as transparent and honest as any congressman in this country. His tireless work for veterans should be admired by all Americans. Due to his leadership, the congress recently passed a bill that greatly improves medical services for servicemen and women. He has a great working relationship with leaders in the 11th District and has brought badly needed federal funding and projects to the area, such as the expansion of the Port of Stockton.

Then we have the smarmy David Harmer on the Republican side. He has all the charm of a snake oil salesman as he takes his conservative roadshow from district to district trying to get elected. He is a carpetbagger in the truest sense of the word. Even worse, Harmer rails about government bailouts while taking his own government bailout after getting fired from his last job. Can you say hypocrite?

Don’t get me wrong, the Daily Kos and The Huffington Post are great blogs and America benefits from having them. It is blogs like The Progressive Connection and Firedoglake that are the problem. It is all or nothing with them. If McNerney doesn’t completely adhere to their every demand, they make him walk the plank. Blinded by their own self-interests, progressives attack him like sharks. Can you progressives give the brother a break?! Can you take some time to understand the realities of his district? Can you take the time to understand his circumstances? Can you appreciate the fact that he chatted with the progressive bloggers for a couple hours, unlike 100% of the politicians in American? Do you know what the alternative to McNerney will be? Lets get back down to earth people.

I’m sick of the progressive bloggers switching loyalties on Jerry McNerney by the hour. What a bunch of bitches. I see no conflict between his recent quotes in the Washington Post and what he posted on his blog. It’s enough that conservatives are taking his “If anything, I’m more willing to work to find a way forward” statement out of context. Now the progressive bloggers want to eat McNerney alive. They are nothing short of animals when they don’t get their way with a liberal politician. Lets not forget that McNerney’s stance on Iraq shouldn’t overshadow all the great things he has done for his district. That means nothing to out of district progressive bloggers who want to use McNerney like a tool and despose of him at their leisure. They couldn’t care less about the district’s needs. Now asshole bloggers have to bash McNerney after he had the guts and balls to go on FDL, which was something NO OTHER POLITICIAN IN AMERICA WOULD DO!!!! . Long live Democrats. Long live the Irish. Progressives Are Too Harsh on McNerney

If a right-wing redneck from a rural part of San Joaquin County doesn’t embrace Jerry McNerney, it doesn’t exactly surprise me. Among the farmers and ranchers in SJ County, hating Democrats is simply part of their inbred DNA. They are as conservative as they come in California, and such things as “change” and “open-mindedness” are not their strong suit. Hating liberals is to be expected from this crowd.

The far left is a different story. Some of the “progressive” blogs that once supported McNerney in his 2006 campaign have turned their backs on the man because he didn’t follow their agenda 100% of the time. McNerney could vote in the “progressive” bloggers’ interests on 99 out of 100 votes, but the one time McNerney doesn’t follow their agenda, they want to make him walk the plank. Recently, some bloggers took issue with McNerney’s votes on the Iraq War and medical-marijuana law. While some disappointment with McNerney on these issues may be justified, the reaction from some bloggers and activists was nothing short of ridiculous. They were so quick to sell McNerney down the river, exhibiting no sense of loyalty to one of the truly nice guys in politics. It is almost as if they forget that McNerney’s main job is to serve his constituents, not the constitution of The Progressive Connection or Firedoglake. Maybe these "progressives" would be better served if they manufactured a robot that could run for congress and advance their cause on every single issue. They wouldn’t have to deal with a guy like McNerney, who has a mind of his own. The bloggers’ uncompromising nature is almost akin to a Christian conservative. Enough with this “for us or against us”, black-and-white worldview! Long live McNerney!!!

The 11th District of California needed change. One Irish Catholic Democrat from Pleasanton had the balls to run against the corrupt Republican Congressman Richard Pombo in 2004 and 2006. His name was Jerry McNerney. After winning last November’s election, McNerney has exhibited a strong determination to tackle the issues that mean the most to his constituents. He isn’t going to pander to Central Valley conservative rednecks, nor will he kiss the butt of every liberal blogger that bitches about how he “isn’t progressive enough.” McNerney is his own man. Deal with it!
